New to orange. Got a lead on L35 w/loader and backhoe, need to know value, what to look for in normal wear or abuse. Are these units known for any unique traits? Any help will be appreciated. Be used for 18 acre horse/pasture/yard work, some road work, etc.

Thanks,Ken...lots of time but runnin outamoney

Can't really help you to much for value as the success of the L-35 has been for over ten years. The cheapest one I've ever seen was in the high teens with a couple of thousand hours. The unit is a TLB unit that is dedicated loader with a removable backhoe to free up for three point hitch duties. ....

I have a 2000 L35. Bought it two years ago. I have also sold about 4 of them for a freind of mine who has a rental company. He sells them when they get about 2 years old with around 600 to 1100 hours. Average price is about $20k. I think he has (3) L35s and a bunch of B21's

Here is a little info on problems I have found:

1)The front axle knuckle seals may leak over time, $350 repair bill to reseal both sides.

2) under the seat there is O ringed tube and plate which can leak if it comes lose, easy fix, just replace O ring. Only had this problem on one tractor.

3) lip of seat and seat hardware is a poor design.

4) parking brake switch on pedal will fail, poor design, cause operator to move with parking brake on.

5)Orings on quick disconects will leak over time. replace orings.

6) Hyd tubes on front bucket mount get pinched all the time, install guard maybe?

Other then that I have not seen any real problems. I use mine for snow blowing, box gradeing, brush hogs, small backhoe work and loader work .

Pat ....

I'm only really familier with the Kubota's back to the mid 80's so I will come from there. The B-20 was the first of a group of factory built compact tractor based TLB. They are like a miniture 555 by Ford or a 310 by deere or a 580 by Case. They have stronger frames, higher output hydraulic systems and far stronger sheet metal and integeral loaders. Much the same as the larger units that there bases were ag tractors that have been modified to excell in the construction field. The largest difference is the removable hoe with it's four point hoe hook up which is tight to the tractor and doesn't hinder ground clearance and can be switched out in about 5 minutes. Currently with the smallest being the B-21 then the L-35 and then the L-48 the newest as well as the largest of these units built. ....
